With the S.C. Christian Action Council, the state Department of Education, and the Greater Columbia Community Relations Council, the Palmetto Project sponsored the Building Cultural Bridges Student Leadership Conference on Race and Community at the College of Charleston.  Each year student-faculty teams from as many as 35 high schools convened for four days to explore ways in which they could reach across racial and cultural barriers in their schools, nurture a more inclusive student life, and improve student-to-student communications. Students from over 100 high schools participated in the training program at the summer conferences.
