Every child deserves the resources to learn and grow.

Every family deserves the opportunity to flourish.

Through Families Helping Families, neighbors come together to make both possible.

Our Families Helping Families programs build communities of care, bringing neighbors together to ensure local children, families, adults with disabilities, and older adults in need have the support and resources they need to thrive.

MIDLANDS

Holiday Assistance

Since 1990, Palmetto Project has provided the magic of the holiday season to thousands of Midlands families with children, senior citizens, and adults with disabilities in need in partnership with WIS News 10.

Families are referred through a trusted network of more than 80 community partners, helping ensure assistance reaches neighbors with demonstrated need.

At the heart of Families Helping Families in the Midlands is an extraordinary community of neighbors who adopt families, purchase and donate gifts, give financially, and volunteer their time to make sure every family served can experience the joy and dignity of the holiday season. Together, our amazing Midlands community has provided holiday support to more than 80,000 families in Richland, Lexington, Fairfield, and Newberry Counties.

For more than three decades, Families Helping Families has turned referrals into relationships and generosity into a community tradition of neighbors caring for neighbors.

Help us continue this special holiday tradition.

Back-to-School

Beginning in 2024, we expanded our FHF of the Midlands model beyond the holiday season to ensure that hundreds of Midlands children in need could start the school year with the supplies to succeed.

Because of all of YOU, our Back-to-School Supply Drive has provided 3,100+ Midlands students in need students with the supplies they needed to succeed.

LOWCOUNTRY

Holiday Assistance

Beginning in 2025, Families Helping Families of the Lowcountry (FHFL)  brought the tradition of neighbors caring for neighbors to Charleston County. In partnership with Charleston County School District (CCSD), FHFL provides holiday assistance to elementary, middle, and high school students and their families experiencing homelessness.

First, families are first connected with FHFL through CCSD staff. Next, our Lowcountry community members, businesses, churches, book clubs, and civic groups adopt families, purchase & donate gifts, give financially, and volunteer their time to help ensure that children without a home for the holidays do not miss out on the joy, belonging, and traditions of the season.

Help us make this new tradition in the Lowcountry a success — and help make the holidays merry & bright for local children and families in need!

Back-to-School

In 2025, we launched 1st Annual Back-to-School Supply Drive with our Charleston County School District Title I school partner,  Midland Park Primary School!

In partnership with our wonderful Lowcountry community, we have provided backpacks & school supplies for 600 Pre-K and K5 children since 2025!
