An outgrowth of the Citizens’ Summits, the OMEGA Project is weekend retreat for business and community leaders in communities where progress has been derailed by issues in which race and ethnicity are factors.
Leaders in more than 34 SC counties have participated in some aspect of this remarkable program that utilizes the “study circle” method to explore ways in which neighbors of diverse cultures and attitudes can find common ground.
President Clinton’s National Commission on Race named Imagine South Carolina and the OMEGA Project as national “best practices.” CBS News once said the OMEGA Project was one of best collaborations between public and private sectors in the country in addressing matters of race.
